Reconstruction
of First Mass Serial Buildings
This project was designed as part of the City's program for reconstruction of the first mass serial buildings (F.M.S.B.).Thousands of residential units were built during the period of Nikita Kruschev's government. Under that program housing was built in large areas of the city and along major streets. The typical building has five stories and is made of white brick. The facade is ugly, energy efficiency is poor and the floor plans in the flats are bad.
The idea of reconstruction of this buildings is utopian but architects wonder.
In the new project the main load bearing construction was preserved, mansard floors were raised with their own load bearing columns and perimetral gallery with a new facade was installed.
